Low back pain| nerve levels| L1

Sensation: Groin area and the lower abdomen near the groin through the ilioinguinal nerve and the iliohypogastric nerve.

The iliohypogastric nerve courses through the inguinal canal together with the genital branch  (L1) of the genitofemoral nerve (L1, L2). The genital branch of the genitofemoral nerve supplies the cremaster muscle and scrotal skin.

Muscles:   Cremaster, internal oblique muscle and the traversus abdominis.

Reflex: cremasteric reflex (slightly stroking the upper inner thigh in a downward direction can cause contraction of the cremasteric muscle of the scrotum, pulling the testes upward).
