eToims® Overview
eToims®, the acronym for the non-invasive Electrical Twitch Obtaining Intramuscular Stimulation Technique, searches for injured neuromuscular junctions, also known as trigger points to provide a superior diagnostic treatment for pain relief and physical therapy. Very brief surface electrical stimulation at trigger points causes muscles to twitch. That characteristic twitch is followed by muscle relaxation, i.e. cessation of spasm and muscle tightness with improved blood flow that can eliminate or decrease discomfort and/or pain. The use of minimal levels of electrical stimulation at deep neuromuscular junctions delivers a therapeutic effect superior than manual stretch techniques because of its added value of tissue mobilization effects from deep within the muscle. Progressively stronger levels of electrical stimulation can elicit deeper twitches that can be used for sports therapies and deep tissue therapies for aging muscles. The preferred, customized level of stimulation performed by a skilled clinician can be used in the treatment of acute and chronic nerve related muscle pain.
